“Users of consumer-grade routers take note that your networks are being targeted more than ever.”

Judging by the findings reported in this recent article by Robert Abel for SC Media, the first quarter of 2018 was anything but safe for those using consumer-grade routers in their networks. The eSentire Quarterly Threat Report noted a 539 percent uptick in attacks targeting these routers and said that these consumer-grade devices were commonly in use in the education, construction, and biotechnology sectors. Check out the full article for the details of the report. One item of interest was the fact that researchers noted that while phishing attacks represented a small percentage of the overall observed attacks they maintained a fairly consistent success rate and often lead to the complete compromise of a network when not quickly addressed.
