In light of recent incidents, discussion has been rekindled concerning the safety of schools and the use of interior security cameras to help in those efforts. In one case, a couple of Boulder Valley, CO. school board members suggested the board revisit the district’s long-standing ban on security cameras inside schools after hearing requests from parents. Boulder Valley adopted a policy in 2001 that allows exterior cameras but prohibits schools from using interior cameras to monitor students. The district has maintained its stance on not allowing cameras inside schools since then, but in the last few years has heard more requests from parents, school board members said.
