“In retail, it’s mobile or bust according to 2017 Cyber Monday sales trends.”

A record-setting Cyber Monday saw mobile sales rocket to their first $2 billion day, according to Adobe Analytics. Seeing these numbers, it looks like retailers who haven’t yet embraced mobile are about to be left behind. Also reported was the fact that “Smartphones have become the de facto device for mobile shopping, while tablets continue to be more used as entertainment and gaming devices,” according to a statement to Business Insider from Taylor Schreiner, head of Adobe Digital Insights via email.

This is the way of the world in retail and it looks like it is not going to change anytime soon. Just as interesting was the fact that the reports showed that mobile sales are not just for the big retailers. In fact, smaller retailers (those with revenue under $10 million) look like they are benefiting from this trend as well showing a 30% greater chance of shoppers clicking on the “buy button” than their larger competitors according to the Adobe Analytics report.

“School security continues to be top of mind for parents and administrators.”

In light of recent incidents, discussion has been rekindled concerning the safety of schools and the use of interior security cameras to help in those efforts. In one case, a couple of Boulder Valley, CO. school board members suggested the board revisit the district’s long-standing ban on security cameras inside schools after hearing requests from parents. Boulder Valley adopted a policy in 2001 that allows exterior cameras but prohibits schools from using interior cameras to monitor students. The district has maintained its stance on not allowing cameras inside schools since then, but in the last few years has heard more requests from parents, school board members said.

“Feeling secure is a big issue for consumer banking.”

– Todd Hepler, Digitek Security

The following article written by: Security Info Watch

A recent survey independent survey conducted by March Networks highlighted how fraud, customer service and security perceptions are influencing U.S. banking consumer decisions.

Survey results demonstrated that the customer experience remains critical for banks and credit unions when it comes to retention, with 1 in 5 respondents confirming they have switched banks in the past because of poor in-branch service.

In addition, the survey showed that banking choices are influenced by how secure consumers feel when conducting transactions, at their local branch, at an ATM or online. Further, 90% of consumers said they feel safer when they can see video surveillance cameras in their bank or credit union and would choose a financial institution with surveillance over one without, all other things being equal.

Take a deeper dive into these interesting survey results here:

This Netflix-flavoured phishing attack targets your business emails

November 10th, 2017 Posted by Technology 0 thoughts on “This Netflix-flavoured phishing attack targets your business emails”

“Phishing attacks continue to expose vulnerabilities in unsuspecting employees. Please remind your users to be vigilant, and exercise caution with their clicking this holiday season.”

– Patrick Torney, eDot

The following article written by: ZD Net

Now is not the time to let your guard down, one of the latest phishing attacks targeting your business emails is a Netflix-flavoured attack. These phishing emails, designed by attackers to look like they are from familiar brands, work to take advantage of people using corporate email addresses for consumer services.

This recent phishing campaign sees cybercriminals sending messages claiming to be from Netflix, targeting business email accounts in an attack, which, if successful, could provide hackers with the login credentials required to access corporate services. In addition, there is also the prospect of the attackers cross-referencing a successfully phished corporate account with personal emails and, if the same password is shared across multiple accounts, breaking into those too.

This Netflix style attack is extremely dangerous and was uncovered by researchers at PhishMe. Read more for more additional details.
